Lowry's Allison Green passes the ball in between two South Tahoe defenders in the Lady Bucks' 54-39 win over the Vikings on Friday in Winnemucca.

It was a mixed bag of results for the Lowry High School girls basketball team, who faced a pair of Northern 3A West schools in crossover play.

The games do not count for the league standings.

Lowry started red hot against South Tahoe on Friday night in Winnemucca, leading by as many as 17 points in the opening quarter, eventually winning 54-39.

It was a quick turnaround, as Lowry boarded the bus on Saturday morning to for Reno play North Valleys.

The Lady Bucks had knocked out the Panthers out of the regional playoffs in each of the past three years.

However, North Valleys used a 15-5 run in the fourth quarter to beat Lowry 49-38. It was the Panthers’ first win over the Lady Bucks since 2012.

Maura Braatz and Natalee Formby each knocked down 3-pointers to give the Lady Bucks an early 8-2 advantage.

Britain Backus followed with 10 straight points for Lowry and Kholle Shorey added back-to-back buckets to push the advantage to 20-6. Lowry eventually led 25-9 after eight minutes of action.
