WINNEMUCCA — On Saturday, Nov. 30, the Winnemucca community came together to honor the memory of Will DeLong and support a cause close to his heart.

A fundraiser was held during the varsity girls basketball game at Lowry High School, with all proceeds benefiting The Family Support Center’s work with victims of violence and individuals in crisis.

Throughout the week, black shirts featuring the message “Never Give Up” and “#StrongWill” were sold, raising over $1,500 in support of the cause.

At the game, supporters proudly wore their shirts, showing solidarity for the DeLong family, which included varsity girls’ basketball player Matti DeLong.

Will DeLong was a man who embodied the core values that Winnemucca’s Lowry sports programs strive to instill: perseverance, positivity, hard work, and dedication.

His legacy lives on in the community he loved, and his lessons of resilience and kindness continue to inspire.

Organizers encourage everyone to consider donating to The Family Support Center in Will’s name, ensuring that his spirit of giving and support for those in need will live on.

The funds raised will help victims of violence and others in crisis find the resources they need to heal and rebuild their lives.  Donations can be sent to Family Support Center, 1200 East Winnemucca Blvd, Suite B, Winnemucca, NV.
