PCHS soccer players Kimi Trowbridge, Mili Gonzalez, Grace Kalsem and Lily Anderson-Burt help with the Pre-K-4th grade soccer camp on Aug. 16-17.

The annual PCHS soccer camp was a team effort by coach Kelly Brooks and the Mustang soccer team.

At camp, the high school athletes helped teach the younger players. Days later, the Mustangs launched their new season.

The Mustangs traveled to Yerington for their first game on Monday, Aug. 19.

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, they played

Lowry in Winnemucca. Results were not available at press time.

This year's seniors are Yasmin Acosta, Lily Anderson-Burt, Kim Hinds, Grace Kalsem and Kim Trowbridge. Valerie Franco, Anika Happy, Riley Harvey, Elizabeth Nava, Lexie Portillo and Sugeily Valtierra are juniors.

The sophomores are Nayeli Acosta, Briley Bird, Megan DeLaVega, Milli Gonzalez and Alejandra Pineda. Desaray Vidrio and Abby Perez are freshman.

Anderson-Burt is the goalie but DeLaVega and Bird are training as backups.

The players and coach agree that helping the young campers was a great start to the 2024-25 season.

The Pre-K-4th grade players came to Friday's camp. Sixth through eighth graders attended on Saturday morning.

"Pretty much all of our team was there," said Brooks. "Between both days, we had about 60 kids. They worked hard, worked on their touch on the ball and (the older group) played in a short competitive scrimmage at the end of the day. Both camps had fun with water balloons, and everyone earned ice cream sandwiches."
