Lowry volleyball nets two wins at Yerington tournament

The Lowry High School volleyball team got its season started with six matches in two days at the Yerington tournament.

The Lady Bucks went 1-2 on the first day of the tournament on Friday, losing 25-17 and 25-10 to Carson and 25-15-25-21 to Bishop, Calif.

Lowry knocked off Mineral County 25-11, 25-23.

In the final day of action on Saturday, Lowry lost to Northern 3A West foe North Valleys 25-18, 25-17, 15-12. 

The Lady Bucks bounced back with 25-13, 22-25, 15-11 win over Silver Stage of the Northern 2A and lost the finale 25-24, 20-25, 15-13 to Virginia City.

Lowry travels to Hug on Saturday for its final preseason tournament and makes its home debut on Thursday, Aug. 29, against Sparks, in a Northern 3A crossover. 

The crossover matches aren’t not counted toward league standing for the playoffs.
