What do you when you are separated by 526 miles and nearly eight hours of travel time?

For the Battle Mountain and Needles, Calif., football teams, you meet in the middle of nowhere in the Nevada desert.

The two squads met up in Beatty this past Friday night for a non-conference match-up. 

The Mustangs are members of the Southern 2A.

For the second year in a row, Needles got the better of Battle Mountain, winning 26-6.

Battle Mountain is back on the road Friday to play White Pine in Ely at 7 p.m. It’s the first game of the year for the Bobcats.

The Longhorns make their home debut on Friday, Sept. 6, against Silver Stage at 7 p.m.
