Battle Mountain’s Nevaeh Serna and her NNA swim coach Michael Hall attended the High Country Short Course Championships in Minden from Aug. 2-4.

Serna earned high-point honors in the 11-12-year-old division for girls.  She will age up on Sept. 6, and is looking forward to the new challenges the older kids will bring.

The youngster took off nearly two seconds off her previous time to win the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1 minute, 7.63 seconds. 

She won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:27.40 and took of 5.51 seconds to lead the way in the 100-yard individual medley at 1:09.19. Serna also claimed the top spot in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 30.60.

She as the runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle, stopping the clock at 1:03.38 and then chopped of 1.91 seconds to place third in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:38.70.

Serna placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (32.48), ninth in the 50-yard Breaststroke (38.84) and third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 28.44.
