The Truckee-Carson Irrigation District in Churchill County will receive nearly $2.2 million in federal funding for infrastructure upgrades on six gates on the Lahontan Dam in Fallon.
The upgrades will be made to gates on the upstream side of the dam’s outlet tower, along with six stems.
The improvements will save more than 2,400 acre-feet of Carson River water — roughly 780 million gallons — lost annually through gate leakage during the non-irrigation season.
