Desert Town Reflections

I’m king of the castle

I have quite a different question to ask you my readers here today:

Where would you place yourself in the pecking order, the hierarchy of our society that is?

Oh well sorry to hear that. I myself am sadly in a similar position.

Well, dreams, hopes and tremendous expectations; you and I and just about everyone have and fantasize about these from time to time.

But too much so and you could be accused of having delusions of grandeur, or even maximum megalomania!

Could such an ideal world really be possible? Well, here’s a far-fetched idea for you: What if you were to consider yourself emperor of the world and ruler supreme?

You declare that you hereby own and control all, and everything in this world is yours beyond any doubt or reservations! Everyone else in this universe is only here at your discretion, and their only purpose is to serve your interest.

They have no rights, only privileges granted by you. Therefore, you have a number of laws drafted to maintain this, your supreme decree.

Being that they are living in your world, breathing your air and occupying your space, you reason they should pay rent. To simplify it we shall call it a tax.

But hold on a minute. Once this idea begins to get out and before you get very far in establishing your kingdom... Well holy smoke, you see an ambulance at your front door.

They’ve come to take you away and lock you up; and for your own good they say. They promise to give you appropriate medical treatment to restore your “proper mental balance”. You struggle and argue with the doctors and staff. “What’s wrong?” you ask.

“Why can I not do what others have done for thousands of years? Why can emperors, kings, governments and dictators declare their divine rights to rule but not me? All that is necessary is the realization of one’s own self-determined sovereign rights along with his rightful station in life and I’ve just had that realization”.

Somehow, they don’t accept this. They tell you to calm down, take it easy and all will be okay. But they say that to all the patients.

They keep you confined and caged alone in isolation. Oh my, what a pitiful sight to behold an all-powerful world emperor locked in a padded cell and wearing a straightjacket!

So, we get back to reality here. You decide not to be so bold as to attempt to put this plan into action here and now. It’s looked at as a huge threat to those who are already in the cat bird’s seat, politicians and world leaders- crowned and blessed with power and privilege. But you must admit, the idea has much merit and is very appealing.

However, to think that one has awesome power and untold potential greatness is not really delusional. It’s just that it’s not allowed in our society.

You see, others hold this monopoly and it’s a closed, private club. You and I are not members!

Well, here’s another view of this picture for you: Could it be that the reverse may have some validity - that we are not all lowly peons having to bow, scrape and submit? Could it be that we have only been tricked and deceived into this condition and finally given our consent and accepted that this is how things are and how they should continue to be?

Sure, there have been revolutions and rebellions against this caste system through the ages. But no great changes have come to pass. The clear distinction between the haves and have nots appears as a permanent fixed condition set in stone in our world today.

But additionally, could it also be that each of us is a supreme emperor of our own universe, and that power, ability and greatness is second nature to us, but we share this material world with all others and the competition is fierce?

This reminds me of a nursery rhyme we had when I was a kid. It went something like: “I’m king of the castle. Get down you dirty rascal”.

Many elites think that in order to win they must subdue all others and convince them to act as servants, pawns and subjects.

And to keep them in this state they must diminish awareness of their great inherent natural potential and abilities.

So, from birth on we are categorized, indoctrinated and properly programmed into compliant tax paying producers and consumers while being constantly monitored and controlled.

Well, that’s life as we know it on Planet Earth here in the year 2024 AD, you could say.

However, every once in a while, I get this irresistible urge to insist that the judge should stand when I enter a courtroom.

I would so much like to be addressed as “Your honor” or “Your royal highness” and especially so as “Your excellency”
