Endless Pawsibilities and Desert Trails Vet Services hosting special adoption event

This Saturday, April 27, some very special dogs and kittens will be looking for their forever homes during an adoption event hosted by Endless Pawsibilities and Desert Trails Veterinary Services from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Desert Trails (located at 720 E. 4th St.).

“The goal is to get pets into good homes. Getting these animals into the public some who have gone through trauma, abuse and finding the right forever home for them is the goal. Even if only one animal finds the right forever home, then it will be a success. One of the best dogs that I ever owned came from a shelter. Dogs are resilient, forgiving and have a lot of love to give. Some of our pets do require some understanding and forgiveness because of what they have been through they just need to find the right person to love them,” explained Dr. Tessa Morgan, a board member and volunteer for Endless Pawsibilities and works at Desert Trails for Dr. Katie Estill.

Endless Pawsibilities is a 501c3 nonprofit that was started by John and Misty Eklund to help address a lack of services for animals in rural Nevada, according to Dr. Morgan, and provide general medical treatment, vaccine clinics, and low-cost veterinary services to the rescued pets. Dr. Morgan and Vet Technician, dog trainer, and Endless Pawsibilities volunteer Shaylee Robinson are helping to host the event.

“We know that there is a need in a lot of rural Nevada due to a lack of access to veterinarians and veterinary services in general,” said Dr. Morgan.

Shelters and rescues in rural areas fill up fast, often with abandoned animals that are then subject to intense kennel stress and makes it unlikely for them to find a loving home straight from the shelter. Endless Pawsibilities is a foster-based group that helps find homes for animals in need from Winnemucca to Wendover and provides a way for them to come down from the stress and help them become more adoptable.

“We want a chance for these pets to meet people in person and hopefully make a lifelong connection that results in a forever loving home for the pets. We also want some of these pets to get socialization and have a good experience in a public setting,” said Dr. Morgan.

Because the group spans so far across northern Nevada, in person events are tricky to plan, but even those that cannot adopt can make a difference for these dogs and kittens as well through a donation. Beds, toys, food and other pet-friendly items are all welcome.

“The event is really about the animals,” said Dr. Morgan.
