The Pershing County High School softball team hosted Battle Mountain on Tuesday, April 2, and its rivals 1-0 in the close contest.
Pershing County stands at the top of the Northern 2A at 13-0 and 15-0 overall.
Battle Mountain dropped to 5-5 in league play and 5-5 overall.
The low-scoring game packed some exciting moments.

Taylor Garland caught a pop fly and threw it to first, sending a Battle Mountain runner back to the dugout.
In the fifth inning, Kyra Cerini’s hit scored Riley Harvey for the game’s only run.
NIAA Athlete of the Week Yasmine McKinney went 3-for-3 at the plate.
The NIAA rewarded McKinney for five hits with six runs scored over three games. She’s third in Nevada in RBIs with 35.
Anna Happy and Raegan Burrows also went 3-for-3.
Garland pitched, allowing three hits and zero runs. She struck out nine.
“We had a good game defensively and Taylor pitched a great game,” coach Jordan McKinney said.

Ella Moore had two hits for the Lady Longhorns and Stevlana Martinez, Jazmin Johnson and Kelce Robey each had one hit. Aspen Swanger suffered the loss in the circle allowing one unearned run on six hits.
She struck out eight and walked two.
Pershing County traveled Fallon to play Oasis Academy (11-3) on Tuesday, April 9.
Results were not available at press time.
The Mustangs finish the series at home on Saturday, April 13. The games are at 10 a.m. and noon.
Battle Mountain hosts Pershing County on April 18 in Longhorn country. The games are at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
