Lady Bucks knock off Greenwave in dual

The Lowry High School swim team took on Truckee and Churchill County on March 23, in Carson City.

The Lowry High School swim team made its way to Carson City on Saturday, March 23, for a dual with Churchill County and Truckee.

The Lowry girls beat Churchill County 105-89 but lost 205-56 to Truckee. 

The boys dropped both their duals to Churchill County (84-57) and Truckee 120-57.

In the girls dual against Churchill County, Lowry had three separate 1-2 finishes in three different events. 

Aidan Peters (1 minute, 37.70 seconds) and Mia Martinez took the top two spots in the girls 100-yard butterfly. 

Lizzie Harmon (1:13.75) and Alora McClure (1:48.09) led the way in the 100-yard butterfly and Camaila Contreras (1:51.54) and McClure (2:00.2) were 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke.

Harmon added a runner-up finish in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:44.97 and Peters placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:54.37).

Martinez placed sixth in the 50-yard freestyle at 39.46.

Tea Bengoa finished third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:42.81 and was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (34.03).

Makenna Toland placed third in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:59.20) and the 50-yard freestyle (33.32).

Evie Morgan finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medley and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle, while Maygen Robinson and Caitlyn Peters were fourth and fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The 200-yard relay of Peters, Toland, Martinez and Harmon won with a time of 2:21.31.

Against Truckee, Bengoa was third in the 200-yard freestyle and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle.

Swimmers race just once in a day but against different teams in the races and then team scores are picked out from there.

Harmon earned third-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle and Toland placed fourth in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 50-yard freestyle. 

Martinez placed fifth in the 100-yard butterfly, McClure fifth in the 100-yard freestyle and Contreras was fifth in the 100-yard backstroke.


Boys results

In the boys dual against Churchill County, Steven Camacho won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:07.55, with teammate Garrett Jensen the runner-up at 1:09.66. 

Tanner Hatch won the 500-yard freestyle, stopping the clock at 6:40.73 and he placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:24.65). Camacho (1:27.39) and Jensen (1:43.88) were third and fourth, respectfully, in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Kelsen Sisley was second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 33.89 and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:20.16).

Against Truckee, Hatch’s time in the 100-yar breaststroke was good enough to win and Camacho and Jensen were second and third. In addition, Camacho was the runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle.  

The 200-yard relay of Jensen, Sisley, Camacho and Hatch won with a time of 1:57.81.

Lowry returns to the pool on Saturday, April 13 at Incline at 2 p.m.
