Battle Mountain NNA swimmers Nevaeh Serna and Weston Reiva had the opportunity to swim in a home meet in Reno at the 2024 NNA Age Group Open at Northwest Pool on March 23-24.
Serna scored a 194 out of 200 and Reiva 120 out of 200 to bring home Hight point in their age group. Serna also made the all-star team but the meet was canceled due to bad weather and Donner Summit being closed.
She has also qualified for the Far Westerns in Pacific Swimming: Zone 2 PC-SCY Far Western Championships in Pleasanton, Calif.
In Reno, Serna took home the spot in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2 minutes, 33.20 seconds, 100-yard freestyle (1:03.95), 50-yard backstroke (31.29), 100-yard individual medley, 50-yard breaststroke (38.15), 100-yard backstroke (1”07.30), 100-yard butterfly (1:13.89) and the 50-yard freestyle at 28.91.
She earned runner-up finishes in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:18.75 and the 50-yard butterfly at 31.90.
Reiva finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 31.56 and was also the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:37.46. He was third in the 200-yard individual medley at 3:09.17.
He turned in a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:10.80 and was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:38.14.
Reiva placed fifth in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:28.38, as well as the 50-yard breaststroke (48.28). He placed seventh in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 40.70.
