Free drive-thru flu shot clinic returns to Winnemucca Event Center

WINNEMUCCA — The annual drive-through flu shot clinic will return this October, providing residents with a free and easy way to protect themselves against the coming flu season.

The annual drive-thru flu POD (“Point of Distribution”) has been scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, at the indoor Winnemucca Event Center, located at 1000 Fairgrounds Road.

In all, approximately 1,000 vaccines will be given to local residents at no cost. All participants will remain in their vehicles; no appointment is necessary.

Sartor said all persons age 6 months and older are recommended for the vaccine, especially children, people age 65 and older, pregnant women, and those with a weakened immune system.

The vaccinations are provided by the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health; Humboldt County Health Nurse Monica Sartor, RN, her staff, and a small army of volunteers will oversee the distribution.

Residents may pick up required paperwork prior to the October 11 event at the Community Health Clinic, located at 50 E. Haskell Street, Suite B. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
