The Battle Mountain High School football team threw a monkey wrench into the Northern 2A standings with an impressive 26-14 road win at Incline on Friday night.

The Longhorns improved to 2-0 in the Northern 2A, while Incline dropped to 2-1 and are tied with Pershing County.

The Longhorns did most of their damage in the second quarter, scoring 20 of their 26 points. On the strength of a long pass from Kail Bengoa to Blake Stuart, Battle Mountain took the lead at 8-6 moments later on a pass from Bengoa to Isaac Martinez.

Later in the second quarter, Bengoa found James Spealman for a short pass and Spealman did the rest, bulldozing his way for the score and a 14-6 advantage.

Battle Mountain added one more score late in the second quarter and increased the lead to 26-6 in the fourth quarter, when Willams threw a second touchdown pass for Incline in the fourth quarter.

Battle Mountain travels to Silver Stage on Saturday.
