The Lowry High School cross country was back in Fernley for the second time this season, this past Thursday for the Fernley Roadhill Invitational.
The Buckaroos’ Brooklyn Swensen finished 11th in the girls race, as the junior stopped the clock at 28 minutes, 30 seconds.
Sophomore Mariah Ramos placed 20th with a time of 34:59.
Fernley’s Kori Scott (25:12) and Laila Kinnick (25:47) were first and second, respectively.
Hug’s Kassandra Medina (26:27) placed third and Fernley’s Trinity Garcia-Anders (26:29) and Hug’s Brenda Espinosa (26:40) rounded out the top five.
Hug won the team title on the boys side with 28 points, beating Bishop Manogue by a point.
On the boys side, junior Lennox Zebroski led the way for Lowry, finishing 37th in a time of 25:15. Freshman Finn Baldwin placed 49th at 26:57 and Keaton Kenison was 53rd with a time of 27:58.
Fernley’s Kael Paz won the boys race with a time of 18:19 and Bishop Manogue’s Luke Swanson (19:00) was second.
Sierra Lutheran’s Aidan Concannon (19:42), Jackpot’s Jorge Avila Fragoza (20:22) and Hug’s Christian Gomez (20:25) completed the top five.
Bishop Manogue claimed the team championship with 42 points, followed by Hug (56) and Fernley (68).
Lowry travels to Sparks on Friday for the Reed Invitational.
