After playing its first seven matches on the road this season, the Lowry High School boys soccer team finally got on its home field this past weekend and made the most of it.
Lowry had no trouble with Dayton on Friday, beating the Dust Devils 8-0 in a mercy-rule match.
Jesus Prado moves the ball up the field with a Fernley defender chasing him.
The Buckaroos made it a perfect weekend, beating Fernley 1-0 on Saturday to improve to 3-3 in the Northern 3A East and 3-5-1 overall.
Despite dominating the possession and play against Fernley, Lowry could not find the back of the net until late in the day.
Rojelio Leon banged a shot off the bar in the ninth minute that missed the net by inches.
The Buckaroos had chances from Johnny Cuevas and Alian Pacheco just miss as well. The match appeared it was going to end in a scoreless tie, when the Fernley goalie misplayed the ball in the 78th minute and Leon was there to clean up the miscue and had an open net to put the shot in the back of the goal.
Lowry travels to Fallon on Saturday to wrap up the first half of the league season against Churchill County at 11:45 a.m.
