The Battle Mountain High School cross country team traveled to Reno and Rancho San Rafael Park on Friday for the Northern 2A Regional Championships.
The Lady Longhorns’ Danielle Madalena, a sophomore, is headed to the state meet with her 12th-place in a time of 26 minutes, 17 seconds.
Fellow sophomore Sonja Sherve finished 17th at 29:29 to also advance to the state finals.
North Tahoe had four of the top five finishers, including winner Britta Johnson at 20:42 and the runner-up, Hailey Gordon, in third with a time of 21:04.

Incline’s Kira Noble finished third with a time of 21:16 and North Tahoe’s Alexis Hallenberg (21:17) and Kalena Steves (21:27) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
North Tahoe took home the team title with 12 points, followed by Incline (36) and Coral Academy of Reno (49).
In the boys race, freshman Moroni Colver placed 23rd with a time of 20:46.
Sophomore Eli Colver was 26th at 20:51 and sophomore Sean Doney placed 35th, stopping the clock at 22:11.

Incline’s Noah McMahan won the race at 16:59 and Whittell’s Logan Robertson was the runner-up with a time of 18:00.
North Tahoe’s Luka Karnicks (18:13) was third and Sierra Lutheran’s Aidan Concannon (18:29) and North Tahoe’s Isaac Pacheco-Martinez (18:39) rounded out the top five.
North Tahoe won the team championship with 18 points, followed by Incline (38) and Wells (64)
The NIAA 2A State Championships are back at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno on Saturday. The 2A girls run at 10 a.m. and the boys race at 12:35 p.m.
