First responders, helicopters, emergency vehicles and even some controlled flames lit up Vesco Park on Oct. 7 during Nevada State Fire Marshal Public Safety Day. The free community event had family-friendly activities including a raffle, tours of emergency vehicles, food, swag and music. Children and families were able to enjoy an opportunity to meet many of the local first responders, check out their gear and special vehicles and see a real fire be put out.
