Last week, the Pershing County girls soccer team competed against some skilled and experienced teams, according to coach Kelly Brooks.

On Tuesday, Oct. 10, the Mustangs hosted the Churchill County Greenwave (12-2) and lost 10-0.

The Mustangs played Lowry's varsity at home on Wednesday, Oct. 11 and fell 9-0 and traveled to its JV in Winnemucca on Saturday and lost 4-0.

On Wednesday, Lowry (12-3) scored nine goals in the first half.

The Mustangs strategized between halves and held the Buckaroos scoreless in the second. That bodes well for Pershing County's defense.

"On Saturday, we went to Lowry to play their JV team, but we were far off our normal level of play," said the coach. "It was disappointing and disheartening."

Pershing County hosted Elko on Tuesday, Oct. 17, and Spring Creek on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Results were not available at press time. This Saturday, they host Yerington (0-12) at 9 a.m. for a non-league matchup.

The Mustangs would like to end the season on a positive note, especially as a send-off to its seniors - Mady Grenz and Miya Gallagher. Their team and families will celebrate their achievements at the senior day game against Yerington. They'd appreciate a big Lovelock turnout, rain or shine.

"Yerington and Lovelock have had similar outcomes this season, so we hope for a competitive game to close out the year," said Brooks.
