Humboldt County students were asked to participate in the Second Bi-Annual “I Voted” Sticker Art Design Contest for the 2024 Election Cycle, with a chance for their design to be featured on the stickers given out to every voter in the County. Winners of the contest, tenth grader from the Humboldt County School District’s Homeschool Program Natalie Reves (in Category A: fifth grade – eighth grade) and eighth grader at Winnemucca Junior High School Laci Fentress (Category B : ninth grade – twelfth grade) were honored with a $100 chamber check, a plaque, and will have their designs handed out at all of the in-person polling locations during Early Voting and on Election Day for each election, as well as sent out with all paper mail ballots.
Humboldt County Deputy Clerk in charge of elections and creator of the contest Jessica Koepke presented Reves her plaque and chamber check at the Humboldt County Board of Commissioners meeting on Oct. 2 and later presented Fentress with her plaque and check at the Winnemucca Junior High.
Laci Fentress (center) was also a winner, and is pictured with WJHS principal Dustin Christean, Humboldt County Clerk Tami Rae Spero, Koepke and school district superintendent Dr. David Jensen.
The selection panel consisting Humboldt County School District Superintendent Dr. Dave Jensen, Sixth Judicial District Court Judge Michael Montero, Humboldt County Library Director Jessica Anderson, Humboldt County Commissioner Tom Hoss, and Winnemucca City Council Member Ashley Maden selected the winning designs from 56 entries based on their artistic skill and excellence, meaningful and consistent theme, and uniqueness of the design.
