Battle Mountain NNA swimmers turn in best times of the season

Four members of the Battle Mountain NNA swim team were in Roseville Calif., for the CCA Spook-Tacular at the Roseville Aquatic Complex.

All four of the swimmers produced their best times of the year, as the state finals are nearing in Las Vegas from Nov. 9-12.

Nevaeh Serna, competing in the girls 12 and under division, won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2 minutes, 23.74 seconds and was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:18.78. 

Serna added a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke, stopping the clock at 21.94 and she was ninth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.94).

She placed 10th in the 50-yard breaststroke (40:32), took off 2.52 seconds in the 200-yard individual medley to place 11th in a time of 2:36.25 and she cut 2.24 seconds in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:12.46.

Serna was 18th in the 50-yard freestyle (29.51).

Saige Bakker swam in the 12 and under division as well and finished 21st in the 100-yard breaststroke at 2:08.85, a 13:05-second improvement.  

She placed 28th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:48.63) and was 29th in the 50-yard backstroke at 48.00. 

Bakker placed 36th in the 100-yard freestyle, 40th in the 50-yard freestyle (41:64) and 42nd I the 50-yard breaststroke (1:00.53), which was a 16.53-second improvement.

Weston Reiva swam in the boys 12 and under division and placed 17th in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:29.76 and he finished 19th in both the 50-yard backstroke (43.22) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:44.47), a 2.59-second improvement.

Reiva turned 24th-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (1:14.23) and the 50-yard freestyle (34.00) and was 31st in the 50-yard breaststroke at 50.46, a 4.31-second improvement. 

Reiva placed 25th in the 50-yard butterfly (43.72) and was 30th in the 100-yard individual medley (1:32.07), a 4.50-second improvement.

Daxon Bakker competed in the 12 and under division as well and took over six seconds in the 100-yard freestyle to place fifth in a time of 1:16.18. 

He finished 10th in the 50-yard freestyle (35.58) and was 16th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:38.30).

Bakker was 14th in both the 50-yard backstroke (45.98) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:49.24), a 7.19-second improvement.

He chopped off over eight seconds in the 100-yard individual medley to finish 15th at 1:33.45 and he was 24th in the 50-yard breaststroke at 49.85.

The regular season finale in Oct. 20-22 in Carson City and the state finals are in Las Vegas Nov. 9-12.
