It was a homecoming to remember. Not only did the Pershing County High School football team blank North Tahoe 49-0, the LVFD put on a firework display that left the crowd in awe.

The boys wore their new helmet skinz and the Spirit Squad entertained. Senior wide receiver Eddie Herrera is the 2023 Homecoming King. Senior cheerleader Danya Zepeda is the Queen.

"Homecoming is an awesome week the kids look forward to all year. It's a huge celebration of school spirit and pride. Thanks to leadership and Ms. (Gabriella) Switzer for planning and executing the fun," said coach Mike Brooks.

Pershing County dominated the field throughout the game, scoring 41 of their 49 points in the first quarter. Aaron Kienbaum and Tyrn Sam each scored defensive touchdowns to build a large lead. Izayuh McGlothin recovered a kickoff. It was the perfect night for senior FS Conner Fecht to score his first varsity touchdown.

"Aaron Kienbaum and Bryce Gottschalk had nice games. Tyrn Sam scored one offensive and one defensive touchdown," added Brooks. "We work to improve each day. The kids have been awesome with that thought process and we're proud of them. Thanks to all the families that made the week so special."

With the win, Pershing County improved to 2-3, overall, and 2-1 in the 2A Northern League.

This Friday, the Mustangs host Dayton for a non-league game. The JV starts at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7 p.m.
