The Lowry High School cross country team made its way to Truckee this past Saturday for an early-morning start at Ponderosa Golf Course for the Truckee Invitational.
Junior Brooklyn Swensen placed 22nd in the girls 5,000 meters junior varsity race with a time of 25 minutes, 42 seconds.
Teammate, Mariah Ramos placed 43rd at 27:56.
Pleasant Grove’s Addison Shaw won the race at 22:03, followed by Sheldon’s Andisha Zahir with a time of 22:18. Pleasant Grove’s Olivia Meisel (22:58), North Valleys’ Lily Ostby (24:07) and Carson’s Lillian Barker (24:08) rounded out the top five.
Pleasant Grove won the team title with 28 and points and Sheldon (Calif.) was second at 65.
All four Lowry boys ran in the 5,000-meter junior varsity race as well.
Sophomore Jace Frydendall led the way for the Buckaroos with a time of 21:48 to place 53rd.
Freshman Finn Baldwin stopped the clock at 23:31 and Keaton Kenison and Lennon Zebroski had the same times at 24:22.
North Tahoe’s Max Avril (18:41) and Luka Karnicks (18:52) were first and second respectively.
Galena’s Liam Ipsen (18:57) finished third and North Tahoe’s Delyan Steves (19:05) and Carson’s Seth Chalmers (19:21) rounded out the top five.
Galena won the team title with 67 points and North Tahoe (71) finished second.
Lowry hosts its invitational on Friday at Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course.
