After dropping the first two games of the season, the Battle Mountain High School football team has found its stride with three consecutive wins and now on sole possession of the Northern 2A lead.
The Longhorns improved to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in league play with a 49-6 victory at Silver Stage on Saturday afternoon.
Coral Academy, Incline and Pershing County are all 3-1 in the Northern 2A. The top four teams advance to the first round of the NIAA 2A State Championships.
It has been a wild year at the top of the standings, as Battle Mountain beat Incline, Incline beat Pershing County and Incline handed Coral Academy its first conference loss this past weekend.
The Longhorns hosts Coral Academy on a Friday the 13th showdown and travel to Lovelock to play Pershing County on Oct. 20.
Before all of that, Battle Mountain celebrates homecoming this week, facing Yerington on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Lions are 2-2 in the Northern 2A with wins over North Tahoe and West Wendover.
Yerington was shut out by Coral Academy (20-0) and Pershing County (50-0).
