Denio students are holding a book drive to benefit newborn baby Noah Montero, whose father, Trenten Montero, recently passed away. Students are asking that the books be donated by Oct. 5, with collection boxes at both the Denio Library and Humboldt County Library, so they can be brought to the Montero family shortly after.
The Monteros are well-loved by the Denio and surrounding communities, as Trenten was a student in Denio and graduated from Lowry High School. The goal is to help make sure Noah has access to many books and can grow up to be an avid reader just like his father.
Students are asking that inscriptions be put in the books so Noah and his mother “can know how much Humboldt County cared for him.”
