Battle Mountain girls soccer team falls to West Wendover, White Pine


The Battle Mountain High School was back at home this past weekend to start the second half of the Northern 3A East season.

The Lady Longhorns grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half against West Wendover on Friday afternoon but could not hold the lead as the Wolverines scored three times in the final 40 minutes to earn a 3-1 win and a season sweep.

Battle Mountain took on White Pine on Saturday and lost 9-0 to the Ladycats. 

White Pine scored five goals in the first half and added four more in the first 20 minutes of the second half.

Battle Mountain traveled to Dayton on Tuesday and Fernley on Wednesday. Results were not available at press time. 

Battle Mountain hosts Pershing County on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. and hosts Lowry on Oct. 10, and Churchill County on Oct. 11. Both matches are at 4:45 p.m.
