The Nevada High School Rodeo Association closed out its fall schedule with the Mopa Rodeo on Nov. 11-12.
Billy DeLong took home the top spot in saddle bronc with a ride of 74 points in the second performance.
He was the only cowboy to a successful ride on the weekend. In addition, DeLong won the steer wrestling with a time of 6.16 seconds in the first performance. No other cowboy recorded a time.
DeLong placed fourth in tie-down roping with an average of 41.30 and was sixth in boys cutting with 68 points.
Lane Byrd placed third in boys cutting, scoring 71.5 points and Lovelock’s Jacob Burke (69) and Humboldt County’s Cooper Hill (66) finished fifth and seventh, respectively.
Battle Mountain’s Eli Lancaster placed 12th in the steer wrestling average.
Byrd and Wells Tucker Shippy placed second in the average in team roping with a time of 20.350. The duo won the second performance at 7.88.
On the cowgirls side, Humboldt County’s Brynn Barto swept both performances of barrel racing to finish with a time of 35.341. She had runs of 17.645 and 17.696.
Battle Mountain’s Italy Jo Holman placed eighth at 46.721 and Emma Garijo and Leigh Johnson were 17th and 22nd, respectively. Johnson finished eighth in team roping.
Garijo and Barton finished fourth and fifth in breakaway roping and Battle Mountain’s Amelia Lancaster was fifth in goat tying with an average of 18.600. She was the runner-up in the first performance at 9.08. Barto placed 14th in goat tying and Battle Mountain’s Jorja Mashburn was 18th.
Garijo took the top spot in pole bending with a time of 42.057. She won the first performance at 20.687. Johnson posted a runner-up finish with an average of 45.251 and was third in the second performance with a time of 21.948.
Matti DeLong and Emma Garijo are second and third in the all-around cowgirl standings and Holman, Barto and Amelia Lancaster sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.
Billy DeLong is out front in the all-around cowboy standings and Eli Lancaster is seventh.
Junior High Results
In the junior high division, Louise DeLong captured the average title in barrel racing with a time of 35.978. She won the first performance and was the runner-up in the final performance.
Teammate Huntley Byrd was second in the average (36.892) and won the second performance at 17.887. Battle Mountain’s Landry Meiman was eighth and Humboldt County’s Taylor Hill 11th.
Byrd led the way in the girls breakaway average at 8.26, with Hill placing third and DeLong ninth.
Meiman earned a runner-up finish in girls goat tying at 20.870 and she won the first performance in a time of 9.32.
DeLong and Byrd were 13th and 14th and Hill placed 16th.
Byrd won the first performance of pole bending at 20.660 and was third in the average (46.854). DeLong placed fifth in the average at 48.492 and won the second performance at 21.908. Meiman placed 12th in pole bending.
Louise DeLong and Eureka’s Henry Buchanan won the first performance and average in ribbon roping. Logan Lancaster and Meiman were sixth in the ribbon roping average and Taylor Hill and White Pine’s Sawyer Bliss placed seventh in the average.
Humboldt County’s Bryce Fears and Battle Mountain’s Logan Lancaster fifth and sixth in boys breakaway roping and Fears and Jace Barto were 9th and 11th in boys goat tying.
Fears won the first performance of chute dogging in a time of 4.25 and was second in the average and Lancaster finished fifth in the average.
Huntley Byrd and Bryce Fears were the runner-up in team roping. The duo did not have a time in the first performance but stopped the watch at 14.380 to win the second performance.
Logan Lancaster and Elko’s Pete Mori won the first performance with a time of 14.900 and were fourth in the average. Taylor Hill and Elko’s Charolette Silva placed 10th in the team roping average.
Louise DeLong leads the all-cowgirl standings and Huntley Byrd and Taylor Hill are third and sixth, respectively. Logan Lancaster sits in ninth the all-around cowboy standings, followed by Bryce Fears and Ben Marvel.
