Lowry High School junior Brooklyn Swensen was the lone Buckaroo at the NIAA State Cross Country Championships held this past Saturday at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno.
Swensen placed 43rd with a time of 26 minutes, 17 seconds.
South Tahoe sophomore Lyla Landry won the race, stopping the clock at 19:42.
Truckee’s Sidney Mcinosh (20:52) was the runner up and Elko’s Liliana Hayes (21:10), North Valleys’ Taylor Dickey (21:10) and The Meadows’ Larissa Spinella (21:39) rounded out the top five.
Truckee won the 3A team title with 26 points and Spring Creek (39) finished as the runner-up.
South Tahoe (98) placed third and Pahrump Valley (114), Fernley (122), Boulder City (136) and Hug (159) rounded out the team scores.
On the boys side, North Valleys’ Austin Key was the individual champion with a time of 16:35 and Elko’s Braylon Baggett was second at 16:54.
Moapa Valley’s Mordechai Yadegar (16:59), Spring Creek’s Nathan Thomas (17:04) and Wooster’s Atticus Reyher (17:37) completed the top five.
Spring Creek won the boys team title with 46 points and Moapa Valley was the runner-up at 56.
Truckee (77), Virgin Valley (103), North Valleys (108), Wooster (134) and Pahrump Valley (168) rounded out the team scores.
