Battle Mountain High School sophomore Dani Madalena placed 17th at the NIAA 2A State Cross Country Championships held this past Saturday at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno.
Madalena stopped the clock at 25 minutes, 57 seconds. Fello sophomore and teammate Sonja Sherve finished 30th with a time of 30:38.
North Tahoe six of the first seven runners to cross the finish line, with sophomore Britta Johnson winning with a time of 19:50.
North Tahoe won the 2A team title with 11 points and Incline (46) finished as the runner-up. Lake Mead (58) placed third and Coral Academy (70), West Wendover (89), Lincoln County (89) rounded out the team scores.
On the boys side, Incline’s Noah McMahan was the boys individual champion in a time of 16:35 and Lincoln County’s Ben Finlison was second at 16:49.
North Tahoe won the boys team title with 19 points and Incline was the runner-up at 33. Lincoln County (42), Wells (72) and West Wendover (115) rounded out the team scores.
