Serna swims at Spring Age Group Championships in Santa Clara, California

Battle Mountain’s Nevaeh Serna was in Santa Clara, Calif., from March 10-12 for the 2023 Spring Group Age Championships at George Haines International Swim Center.

The event was held in an outdoor pool and plagued by rain. 

Swimming without a coach on deck has been a little bit of a challenge her coach always knows just what to say to keep her focused. 

Serna was one of 2,000 entries but held her own.

Serna placed 11th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 11.49 seconds and was 12th in the 50-yard backstroke at 32.95. 

Serna placed 16th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:39.5), 17th in the 200-yard freestyle (2:23.26), 19th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.00) and 25th I the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.59.
