Several PCHS athletes are the proud recipients of regional and State basketball awards. The athletes gathered at an awards ceremony in the high school auditorium last month.
Raegan Burrows made the 1st Team All-State. Burrows is also the Division 2A Defensive Player of the Year.
Kaydance Happy and Taylor Garland made 1st Team All-League and the 2nd Team All-State. Aaliyah Allen and Anna Happy are on the 2nd Team All-League. Yasmine McKinney received an All-League Honorable Mention.
For the boys, Travis Donaldson made the 1st Team All-League. Aaron Kienbaum is on the 2nd Team. Marshall Happy and Izayuh McGlothin received Honorable Mentions.
Coach Jesse Canchola is the Division 2A Coach of the Year. At press time the boys were still waiting to hear about the State awards.
Lovelock also saluted the wrestling team, cheerleaders and JV players. Principal Jonathan Reynolds gave several student-athletes academic awards.
The 2022-23 wrestling team included first-time wrestlers Tavis Lawrence, Angelo Gibson, and Logan Hunt. Wyatt Hughes won third place at State.
Jeffrey Elerick brought home the state championship.
The Spirit Squad included Lupita Lopez, Jillian Bridges, Marya Burke, Benedetta Pompignoli, Nova Karlsson, Malu Ferreira, Grace Kalsem and Sugiley Valtierra.
Now most of the student athletes have moved on to spring sports - baseball, softball and track. They continue to enjoy the town's support.
