Lowry swimmers open season against Sparks

The Lowry High School swim team opened its season on Saturday, March 4, against Sparks in Fernley. The Sparks boys beat Lowry 56-40, but the Buckaroos brought home a handful of first-place finishes.


Tanner Hatch won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 45.26 seconds and the 100-yard backstroke at 1:15.45. Caden Montero won two events — the 50-yard freestyle (28.07) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.86).


Garett Jensen won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 1:15.45.


On the girls side, Sparks beat Lowry 58-33, with Tea Bengoa winning the 100-yard butterfly (1:24.56) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:27.06).


Evie Morag placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 37.06 and she was the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke (1:41.15).


Aidan Peters finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 38.81.


Lowry was in Carson City this past weekend for the Aqua 5. The Buckaroos are back in the pool on March 24 in Truckee to swim against Sage Ridge.
