Some bad roads due to weather, a fatal wreck on US 95 in southern Nevada and a very late night arrival greeted the Lowry High School baseball team before throwing a first pitch in the Route 66 Tournament this past weekend in Needles, Calif.
The Buckaroos finished the weekend at 1-3-1, as they start 3A play this week.
Lowry tied Mohave 7-7 in its opening game this past Thursday and lost to River Valley 12-6 in the second game on Thursday.
The Buckaroos lost to Holtville 12-4 and Needles 11-0 on Friday and closed out the weekend on Saturday with an 8-7 win over Williams.

Mohave 7
After a late night of traveling and an early opening game on Thursday, Lowry gave up four runs to Mohave in the top of the first inning but got two of those back in the bottom of the first, as Txema Bengochea and Kayd Garner scored runs for the Buckaroos.
Lowry trimmed the Mohave advantage to 4-3 in the second inning as, Bengochea singled home Anthony Guzman, who led off the frame with a single.
Mohave extended the lead to 5-3 in the top of the third inning, when the Buckaroos struck for three runs in the bottom of the third to lead 6-5.
Brayden Dennis led off the inning with a single and scored on a Jordan Bills single. Bills eventually scored on a passed ball and Erick Valencia scored the third run of the inning on a wild pitch.
Mohave scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning to go in front 7-6, when Lowry tied the game, as Omar Gomez scored on a wild pitch after leading off with a double.
Dennis picke3d up two hits and Angus Boyles and Zaq Growcock split time on the mound.
River Valley 12, Lowry 6
Lowry grabbed a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as Dennis and Kasyn Garner each had singles. River Valley followed with eight runs in the bottom of the second and four more in the third to lead 12-4.
Kayd Garner had a pair of hits and Erick Bergenheier, Dennis and Kasyn Garner had one hit apiece.
Aiden Tregellas, Growcock and Bergenheier saw time on the mound.
Holtville 12,
Lowry 4
In the first game on Friday, Holtville grabbed a 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning, only to see Lowry counter with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Kayd Graner started the one-out rally with a walk and Valencia, Cardenas, Kasyn Garner and Bills followed with singles to give Lowry a 3-2 lead.
Holtville took the lead for good with four runs in the second inning and added six more in the third.
Bengochea, Valencia, Cardenas, Kasyn Garner and Bills each had a hit.
Needles 11,
Lowry 0
In the final game on Friday, Needles scored seven runs in the first inning and held Lowry without a hit. The Mustangs’ pitcher struck out 11 batters on just 55 pitches.

Williams 7
In the tournament finale on Saturday, Lowry fell behind Williams 1-0 after the second inning but scored five times in the top of the third inning.
Bengochea led off the inning with a walk, followed by a base hit from Kayd Garner and walks to Bergenheier and Kasyn Garner. Valencia capped off the frame with a single.
Lowry stretched the lead to 8-2 in the fifth inning on the strength of a double by Valencia and a single by Growcock.
The two runs proved to be necessary, as Williams scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth, including a two-run homer to close the gap to a run.
The Buckaroos were able to hold on to get the first win of the year.
Bengochea and Valencia each had two hits and Kayd Garner, Growcock and Bergenheier had one hit a piece. Cardenas earned the win on the mound.
Lowry was scheduled to host Sparks on Wednesday and results were not available at press time. Lowry hosts Wooster on Friday at 3 p.m.
