Marta Romero passed away on February 13, 2023, at her home in Winnemucca, Nevada.
She was born on January 31, 1937, in Eagle Pass, Texas to Juan and Gabriela Morin.
Marta married Oscar Romero on March 11, 1956. The two shared 66 years, 1 son and 5 daughters together.
She was a strong and caring woman who loved her family deeply.
Marta and her young family moved to Ontario, Oregon in 1962, there she worked for Malhuer County School District.
In 1979, the family moved to Winnemucca, Nevada for Oscar’s job opportunity at Winnemucca Farms.
She made Winnemucca her home. She worked for JC Penney from 1979 to 1990 and then Raley’s from 1993 to 2004 and Santa Rosa from 2006 until she retired in 2014.
Marta was a plant lover, both indoor and outdoor plants, but she especially loved her roses.
Her favorite rose was the yellow rose because of her Texan roots. She loved looking at the moon and stars and watching the sunset.
She loved singing and dancing and being around her grandkids and great grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Oscar Romero, her children, Patricia Romero, Margie Huerta, Rachel (Billy) Bragg, Linda Sevy, and Becky “Becca” Romero. Her grandchildren, Misty (Chase) Palmer, Martin (Pricsilla) Hernandez Jr., Angie Liscano, Alex Huerta (Cassie Solberg), Andrew Sevy, Anthony “Blue” Huerta (Morgan Martinelli), Mikayla Sevy, Mateo (Shannon) Davis, Andrea Hernandez, AJ Williamson, Adriana Valdez (Cameron Cocchiarella) and Brandon Taylor. Her great grandchildren, Juliana, Ray J, Cassie, and Tikki Palmer, Christian Romero, Dominic and Calvin Hernandez, Charlize Hernandez Manzo, Angelina Cabrera, Bailey Sevy, Devon Kennedy, Rebecca Kennedy and Haisley Davis. As well as her brother, Roberto Morin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Gabriela Morin.
Her siblings, Juan Morin, Berta Diaz and Maria Inez Castro, her son, Juan “John” Romero, her grandchild, Jordan Rianne Taylor and great grandchild, Julius James Barker and her sons-in-law, Martin Hernandez Sr and Steven Sevy.
Services for Marta Romero will be held on March 2, 2023, Rosary at 10 am, Mass to follow at 10:30 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Winnemucca, Nevada.
Graveside services immediately following Mass at the Paradise Valley Cemetery in Paradise Valley, Nevada.
