Italy Jo Holman from the Battle Mountain High School Rodeo Club took home the state championship in the pole bending at the Nevada State Finals Rodeo in Winnemucca over the Memorial Day weekend.
Holman entered the state finals second in the average but won the first two go-arounds with times of 20.788 seconds and 20.373, respectively.
She placed third in the short go with a time of 21.091 but won the three-day average at 62.252 to push her to the state title.
Holman will head to the National High School Rodeo Finals in Gillette, Wyo., from July 16-22.
Holman finished sixth in the girls cutting average and 12th in the barrel racing to qualify for the Silver State International Rodeo in Winnemucca.
Flint Schacht qualified for the national finals in bull riding with a second-place finish in the season-long standings.
After no scores in the first two rounds at the state finals, Schacht won the short go with a score of 81 points. That was the best score of the weekend in bull riding.

Eli Lancaster qualified for the finals in Wyoming with a fourth-place finish in boys cutting. Lancaster had scores of 143, 143.5 and 133 in the state finals to hold on to his fourth-place spot.
Lancaster qualified for the Silver State International Rodeo in steer wrestling and tie-down roping.
He finished seventh in steer wrestling and 16th in tie-down roping. He will also be in Winnemucca in team roping with Amelia Lancaster, as the duo placed fifth in team roping this year.
The duo were fourth in the first go-around at the state finals with a time of 10.110 and were third in the short go at 7.820.
Amelia Lancaster qualified for the national finals in pole bending with a fourth-place finish in the average, putting two Battle Mountain girls in the top four of the event. She posted times of 22.566, 22.059 and 27.916 at the state finals.
She qualified for the Silver State International Rodeo in barrel racing, breakaway roping and girls cutting.

Desi Coombs qualified for the national finals in breakaway roping, placing fourth in the season-long average. Coombs had times of 20.830, 4.21 and 3.71 at the state finals.
She qualified for the Silver State International Rodeo in Barrel racing and pole bending.
In the junior high division, Logan Lancaster and Elko’s Peter Mori qualified in team for the Junior High Finals Rodeo in Perry, Ga., from June 18-24.

The duo finished fourth in the season-long average standings. After a no time in the first go-around at the state finals, they posted times of 22.420 and 10.660.
Lancaster also qualified for the Silver State International Rodeo along with Jorja Mashburn and Landry Meiman.
