Grab your running shoes, walking shoes, or just your regular shoes. Head over to the Pershing County High School sports complex.
The Mustang 5K is this Friday, June 9 from 7-8:30 p.m.
No running required
The football team has been collecting sponsorships for each lap they finish.
You're invited to complete your own 5K alongside them. Run, walk, or sit and visit with your friends. It's up to you.
Athletic director and coach Mike Brooks promises "food vendors, music and games. There will be tacos, snow cones, popcorn and more," he adds. Football mom Nicole Reitz is in charge of the food. DVI is handling the popcorn.
"The reason it's at the athletic complex is because we added the Walk-A-Thon so I needed a way to count laps for the football players. They will initially complete the 5K route and that will count as 12 laps. Then they'll continue for one hour to accumulate more laps," said Brooks.
Register online at pcmustang5K.weebly.com. Everyone who registers gets a commemorative 5K tee shirt. You can buy sponsorships at the event.
