NDOW to host introduction to rifle and shotgun shooting


The Nevada Department of Wildlife is hosting an introduction to rifle and shotgun shooting on Saturday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Humboldt County Shooting Range on Winnemucca Mountain.

An introductory course that teaches the fundamentals of firearms safety, range etiquette, marksmanship, and firearm handling. Students will be introduced to these topics and then put the skills into practice using .22 LR rifles, 12 Ga, and 20 Ga shotguns in a live-fire environment. 

All materials will be provided for this class, and NO personal firearms or ammunition will be permitted. Only students that are pre-registered online will be permitted to shoot. This course is free of charge, and there is no age limit, however, students must be able to hold and aim a .22 rifle. A current Hunter education certificate is suggested prior to class.
