The Lowry High School girls basketball team held its second-place spot in the Northern 3A East with a pair of road wins last week.
The Lady Bucks traveled to Elko on Tuesday, Jan. 24, and beat Elko 56-43 after leading by as many as 21 points.
Lowry made its way to Fallon this past Friday and beat Churchill County 57-24.
Lowry improved to 18-2 overall, 5-1 in the Northerns 3A East and are 5-0 against the Northern 3A West. The Lady Bucks have won 45 of their last 50 games.
In the win over Elko, Lowry jumped all over their rival with a 19-2 lead in the first quarter. The advantage grew to as many as 21 points in the second quarter, with the Lady Bucks eventually leading 32-15 at halftime.
Lowry began to get in foul trouble in the second half and Elko slowly cut into the lead.
The Indians trimmed the deficit to 47-41 win four minutes to play in the fourth quarter, when the Lady Bucks regrouped and finished the game on a 9-2 run to avoid the upset.
Savannah Stoker led all scorers with 26 points and Britain Backus and Kailey Franklin added 12 and eight points, respectively.
Sydnee Pettis scoped six points and Autum Sanchez and Bryce Brinkerhoff each had two points.

Lowry opened the second half of league play with little trouble in Fallon. The Lady Bucks opened up a 14-0 lead after eight minutes of play and never looked back. The advantage grew to 48-14 after three quarters of play.
Backus led all scorers with 20 points and Stoker contributed 17. Brinkerhoff scored six points, Franklin five and Khloe Shorey moved up from the JV team and added four points. Mia Hernandez scored three points and Sanchez had two.
Lowry traveled to South Tahoe on Tuesday and results were not available at press time.
The Lady Bucks host Dayton on Friday at 6 p.m. and Fernley on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Fernley holds the top spot in the Northern 3A and North Valleys is second, as it is the leader of the Northern 3A West.
Lowry is currently the No. 3 seed, followed by Elko, Spring Creek and Dayton.
