Battle Mountain’s Nevaeh Serna competed at the 2023 Blizzard Blast from Jan. 13-15 at the Carson Aquatic Center in Carson City.
She was the only NNA swimmer in the opening meet of the season.
She finished third in the 9-12-year-old 500 freestyle in a time of 6 minutes, 40.37 seconds, which is an 8.26-second improvement.
Serna added third-place finishes in the 100-yard individual medley (1:14.70) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:07.68). She placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 34.97.
Serna’s best finish of the weekend was in the 100-yard backstroke, where she was the runner-up at 1:11.60.
She finished third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:19.15), which was an 8.20-second improvement. She was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (29.84).
In an extra event, she finished the 50-yard breaststroke at 39.86.
