Mary Ann Smith, a long-time Nevada resident, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Kiley Ranch Senior Living Facility in Sparks, Nevada. She was 88 years old.
Mary Ann was born March 24, 1934, in Elko, Nevada.
She was a graduate of Battle Mountain High School in 1953. Her travels after high school took her to Elko, Winnemucca, Lovelock, Fallon, and Battle Mountain, Nevada, as well as southwestern Georgia, and northern New Mexico.
It was in Winnemucca where Mary Ann meet her future husband, Clarence Wayne Smith.
Mary Ann worked as a bank teller in Battle Mountain and Winnemucca and eventually retired from the Lander County School District, where she served as an Instructional Assistant and worked in the high school office.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her mother Mary Jane, father Renee, sisters Dottie Wilson and Kathy Malgrem, brothers Leslie and Myron, and her husband of 60 years, Wayne Smith.
She is survived by a sister Rita Miller of Las Vegas and brother Lelin, who resides in Reno, a son Wymon of Forest Grove, OR, daughters Mary Coleen Meihack and her husband Scott of Rio Rancho, NM, and Caryn Sue Marshall and her husband Roger of Fallon, NV.
Mary Ann had six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann had just recently returned to Nevada from New Mexico.
She spent most of her life in northern Nevada and was happy to be "coming home".
The family would like to recognize the efforts the Kiley Ranch Senior Living Facility provided for our mother during her short time at this facility.
