McDermitt boys drop home games to Owyhee, Carlin
The McDermitt High School boys basketball team dropped a pair of Eastern 1A home games this past weekend.
The Bulldogs took on Owyhee on Friday night and lost 64-25 and were back home on Saturday afternoon against Carlin, where the Railroaders won 43-36.
McDermitt dropped to 0-4 in league play and 1-14 overall.

Owyhee scored the first 10 points of the night, when McDermitt junior Jeremiah Tom ended the run with a free throw with 2:20 to play in the opening quarter.
Horn also had the lone field goal for the Bulldogs, as the Braves led 18-3 after eight minutes of play.
Horn added a pair of baskets in the second quarter and finished with a team-high 13 points, but Owyhee finished the first half on a 11-2 run to lead 37-11 at halftime.
Horn finished off his scoring on the night with six more points in the third quarter, as McDermitt trailed 48-20 with eight minutes to play.
Owyhee scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to create a running clock at 55-20, when Josh Northup knocked down a 3-pointer for his three points on the night.
Kess Hinkey added four points, AJ Farmer three and Elias Smart two.

McDermitt 36
McDermitt got off to a slow start against Carlin on Saturday afternoon, as both teams struggled to get going on offense.
The Railroaders grabbed a 10-4 advantage after eight minutes of play, as Eli Northrup and Horn had baskets in the first quarter for the Bulldogs.
McDermitt erased a 12-5 deficit in the second quarter after a basket by Horn and five straight points from Eli Northrup to tie the game at 14.
That was short-lived, as Carlin ran off the next nine points to go back in front 23-14. The Railroaders eventually led 27-19 at halftime.
Carlin increased its lead to 15 points at 39-24 at the end of the third quarter, but McDermitt had one last run in them.
The Bulldogs press on defense created a number of problems for the Railroaders, as the gap shrunk to 43-36 with a 1:22 to play after a 3-pointer by Eli Northrup and another basket by Horn.
However, neither team scored after that.
Horn and Eli Northrup paced McDermitt with 18 and 13 points, respectively. Hinkey scored four points and Framer one.
Eureka leads the Eastern 1A at 4-0, with Owyhee and Wells each sitting at 2-1.Jackpot and Carlin are 1-2 and McDermitt (0-4).
All six teams qualify for the regional tournament.
The No. 3 seed will host the sixth seed and the No. 4 seed will host the No. 5 seed on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
The semifinals and finals will be at Elko High School on Feb. 17-18.
McDermitt will head out on the road for four straight games, starting Friday in Eureka at 7:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs travel to Lund on Saturday for a 3:30 tip. Lund will be a member of the Eastern 1A next season.
McDermitt makes the return trip to Owyhee on Friday, Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m. and will be in Carlin on Jan. 28 at 4 p.m.
The Bulldogs host Eureka on Friday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m.
