Legislators seek local input during Winnemucca visit

Three Nevada legislators are scheduled to participate on information gathering meetings in Winnemucca next Tuesday, January 24, 2023. State Senator Ira Hansen (R-Sparks) along with Assemblymembers Shondra Summers-Armstrong (D-Las Vegas) and Alexis Hansen (R-Sparks) plan to meet with local officials and the public to hear about issues of concern that may be considered in the upcoming session of the Nevada Legislature the begins in February.

Four meeting sessions are planned throughout the day. Starting times and locations are:

• 10 a.m. at the Humboldt County courthouse (50 West 5th Street) with the members of the County Commission, other County elected officials and the public;

• 1 p.m. with Winnemucca City Hall (90 West 4th Street) with the City Council and the public;

• 3:30 p.m. at the Lowry High School Auditorium (5375 Kluncy Canyon Road) with the Humboldt County School Board, school district administrators, teachers and the public; and

• 6 p.m. at Humboldt General Hospital (118 East Haskell Street) in the Sarah Winnemucca Room with the Hospital District Board of Trustees, hospital administration, physicians and medical staff, and the public.

The legislators especially seek input from local residents and encourage as many people from non-profit, veterans, and community groups – including Democrat, Republican and other political party committees — as possible to attend one of the meetings to share their ideas and concerns.

The meeting at the hospital has no scheduled end time so the intent is to continue that session until the last person who wishes to speak has had the opportunity to do so.
