PBS Reno to debut new season of Wild Nevada

RENO– Wild Nevada, the award-earning production from PBS Reno, is back with a brand new season featuring exciting adventures, incredible stories, and wonderful people from throughout the state!

Season 6, the new season of Wild Nevada, debuted on Jan. 5.

To produce content for the new season, Wild Nevada co-hosts Chris Orr and Dave Santina, along with the Wild Nevada production crew, filmed in several locations. The first five episodes of the new season will include experiences and visits to the proposed Avi Kwa Ame National Monument, Joshua Tree Forest, Spirit Mountain, Kelso Dunes, and lava tubes of Mojave National Preserve; obsidian hunting in Cedarville; a hike in Dog Valley with a ‘Trail Whisperer;’ Great Basin National Park (two visits: one for more-experienced hikers; the other for those who prefer a more-forgiving option) and the Tahoe Rim Trail.

“Every season of Wild Nevada has taught me something new about the beauty and opportunities for adventure that this amazing state holds,” said Orr. “I am looking forward to the surprises and scenery we will discover in a new season of shows. I’m even more excited to share it all with our audiences!”

The brand-new season follows the 2020 pandemic, which had halted production of new episodes of Wild Nevada.

During that time, travel was extremely limited and in-person gatherings among the hosts and production members were not possible. However, the desire to deliver new content to fans was heard loud and clear, and the resulting Wild Nevada Memories series was created in 2021. This series features inside stories from the hosts and videographers who reflected on experiences from earlier episodes.

“In the two years since we last hit the road for a Wild Nevada season I’ve gained a new appreciation for the value of travel,” said Santina. “More than ever I hope viewers decide to explore some on their own, whether that be following some of the trips we’ve taken or striking out on their own for new horizons. Just the act of travelling is an eye and mind-opener, so I hope this new season feels like an invitation to all who watch it.”

Wild Nevada fans are encouraged to check out PBS Reno’s Instagram and Facebook pages, as well as the PBS Reno YouTube channel, for exclusive behind-the-scenes content. All 72 episodes of Wild Nevada, along with 13 episodes of Wild Nevada Memories, can be streamed on PBS Reno’s website.

“The Wild Nevada team is thrilled to be back on the road,” said Megan Myers, PBS Reno Vice President of Content. “This series is renowned for capturing the unique beauty of our state, and taking viewers along for the ride. Season 6 promises to bring even more adventures to our fans, along with incredible stories, accessible activities, breathtaking views, and behind-the-scenes content on the air and our social media platforms.”
