McDermitt girls start league play with two wins over Jackpot, Wells

The McDermitt High School girls basketball team started play in the Eastern 1A in a big way with two blowout wins on the road to improve to 12-3 overall and 2-0 in league play.


The Lady Bulldogs were in Jackpot on Friday night and easily ran away with a 51-15 win over the Jaguars. 


It was much of the same on Saturday afternoon, as McDermitt traveled to Wells and little trouble with the Leopards in a 56-23 victory.


On Dec. 30, 2002, McDermitt closed out its stay at the Christmas Classic in Reno. 


The Lady Bulldogs easily won their first three games of the tournament and they took on the Bishop Manogue JV in the title game at North Valleys High School.


The Miners won the title, knocking off the Lady Bulldogs 66-47.


McDermitt is back home for a key league contest against Owyhee on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. 


The Lady Bulldogs close out the weekend on Saturday afternoon with a 1 p.m. tip against Carlin.


McDermitt heads out on the road for four straight games Eureka (Jan. 20) Lund (Jan. 21), Owyhee (Jan. 27), Carlin (Jan. 28) and return home on Feb. 3, to play Eureka.
