McDermitt boys drop games to Jackpot, Wells on the road

The McDermitt High School boys basketball team opened play in the Eastern 1A with a pair of road losses to Jackpot and Wells this past weekend. With the defeats, the Bulldogs dropped to 1-12 overall and 0-2 in league play.


In Jackpot on Friday night, the Jaguars jumped out to a 16-0 lead after eight minutes of play and held on for the win from there. The advantage grew to 28-8 at halftime and 44-14 after three quarters of play.


After scoring 14 points in the first three quarters, the Bulldogs outscored the Jaguars 17-4 in the fourth quarter.


The road trip concluded on Saturday afternoon in Wells, where the Leopards came away with a 57-49 win for their second victory of the season.


McDermitt is back home this Friday to face Owyhee at 7 p.m. Carlin visits McDermitt on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. start. Following the two home games, the Bulldogs will be on the road for four straight contests before returning home on Feb. 3 to play Eureka.
