After almost a month without games, the Battle Mountain High School girls basketball team was back on the floor for three contests last week.
The Lady Longhorns made their home debut this past weekend, opening Northern 2A play against Silver Stage on Friday night and Yerington on Saturday afternoon.
Battle Mountain ran away from Silver Stage in a 52-10 win and held off a late rally by Yerington to win 28-25 and improve to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the Northern 2A.

Senior Christina Holley scored nine of Battle Mountain’s 22 points in the first eight minutes of play, as the Nighthawks never proved to be a challenger.
Battle Mountain scored the first eight points of the contest and finished the first quarter on a 14-1 run to lead 22-3.
The Lady Longhorns picked up scoring from Vanessa Gillogley, Lindsey Bleak, Holley and a 3-pointer by sophomore Thalia Gonzalez tog in front 35-5 at halftime.
Lilliana Haney scored seven points in the third quarter on help increase the advantage at 44-5 and create a running clock.
Holley netted 13 points in the win, Haney added nine, Gonzalez and Bleak eight each, Aylea Ramos six and Gillogley and Lisette Haney two each.

Yerington 25
Both offenses struggled in this Saturday afternoon affair, as the Lady Longhorns built a 7-3 lead in the first quarter after a layup by Lillianna Haney after a Shea Jones steal and a bucket by Holley/
Each team had just one field goal apiece in the second quarter, as Battle Mountain went into the break with a 13-7 lead.
Yerington cut the gap to four points with the opening bucket of the second half, but Battle Mountain seemed in control, going on a 10-0 run, which included six points from Holley and baskets by Ramos and Jones.
Battle Mountain led 23-9 after that run, only to see Yerington score the final five points of the third quarter and the first four of the final quarter to cut the gap to 23-18 with 5:30 to play.
Ramos stopped the run with a free throw and Jones and basket to increase the gap to 26-18, when the Lions scored the next seven points and trailed 26-25 with 1:56 to play.
With 1:22 to play, Holley knocked down a bucket to give the Lady Longhorns some breathing room to hold on for the win.
Holley led Battle Mountain with 14 points, Ramos added five, Lilliana Haney and Jones four each and bleak two.
Wells 35,

Battle Mountain returned to the floor on Monday, Jan. 2, and dropped a 35-31 decision to Wells in a non-conference match-up.
The Leopards scored just 17 points through the first three quarters, but outscored the Lady Longhorns 18-9 in the final eight minutes to earn the four-point win.
Battle Mountain was scheduled to travel to Eureka on Tuesday, Jan. 3, but the game was postponed due to poor roads and weather conditions.
Battle Mountain travels to Incline on Friday for a 6 p.m. tip and will be in Tahoe City, Calif., on Saturday to play North Tahoe at 2 p.m. The Lady Longhorns host West Wendover on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 6 p.m.
