On Thursday December 29, 2022, at approximately 9:52 A.M. Pacific Time, Troopers with the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division, responded to a report of a vehicle crash US-95, near mile marker 53 in Humboldt County. This location is approximately 53 miles north of Winnemucca.
Preliminary investigation determined that a gray Chevrolet pick-up truck was traveling south on US-95 in the southbound travel lane. The vehicle was traveling at a rate of speed too fast to safely negotiate the curved roadway in adverse weather and road conditions. The driver lost control and ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Unfortunately, one of the passengers Julian Segura (age 25) of Caldwell, ID was unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle.
He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver and three juvenile passengers were transported from the scene with suspected minor injuries.
The crash is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command East Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.).
