Diane June Dupuis Kearns, 89, passed away on December 26, 2022.
Diane was born June 20, 1933, in San Francisco, California to Henry Dupuis and Marie Yerman Dupuis.
She grew up in San Francisco until the age of five, when the family moved to Redwood City, California.
She completed her schooling in Redwood City and went to work for the phone company.
Diane married and moved to Winnemucca, Nevada in 1956. She then moved back to Redwood City in 1958. Three years later, she was back in Winnemucca to stay.
Her main job was being a mom and volunteering in her children’s classrooms.
After her children were grown, she worked as a Court Clerk at the Humboldt County Justice Court until her retirement.
Diane was an avid bowler and passed the love of bowling down to her grandsons.
She bowled two days a week and spent the weekends practicing with them.
She gave up bowling at the age of 80.
Diane was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. She was active in the St. Paul’s Altar Society, working at the cake booth at the St. Pat’s Fair for 60 years as well as helping host funeral luncheons.
Even while working Diane devoted her time to Humboldt Hospital Auxiliary. She served as President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
She was a life-time member. After her retirement, you would find her three days a week at the Poke and Peek preparing baby clothes for display, counting the pieces in games and puzzles, working the cash register, and hanging clothes.
She volunteered countless hours to the organization.
Diane’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Whether it was wrestling, football, soccer, track, cross country, motocross, bowling, baseball, softball, cheerleading, or dance, you would find her cheering, clapping and giving advice to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Taking road trips with her family and friends were memories she cherished. She also enjoyed knitting and many people have been recipients of her scarves over the years.
Diane was predeceased by her parents and son, Michael Kearns. She is survived by her children, Sandy Cipra, Sharon Huber (Red), and Mark Kearns (Anita), her grandchildren Andrew Kearns (Crystal), Hayley Huber Myers, Jonathan Cipra (Michelle), Matthew Cipra, Jared Huber, Christopher Kearns, and Isabel Kearns, and her great grandchildren, Jordan Kearns, Keifer Kearns, Asher Kearns, Aiden Huber, Jacob Myers, and Kiana Cipra.
Diane made friends easily, even sitting on a bench waiting for a train, and was always willing to help anyone who needed it.
She touched numerous lives in this community and will be greatly missed by all, but especially her family.
Per her wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
