The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension will be conducting pesticide applicator continuing education training on March 3, 2023. The training will be held at the Pershing County Community Center, located at 820 Sixth St. Lovelock, Nevada.
The session will be from 8:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The program will offer four hours of continuing education units (3 General Category units and 1 Law Category units).
The following topics will be presented:
• Poly Tank Safety - Steve Foster, UNCE Extension Educator, Pershing County.
This presentation will inform the applicators about how to safely install, secure and test poly tanks for chemical and fertilizer use.
• How Herbicides Work on Rangeland Conditions – Brad Schultz, UNCE Extension Educator, Humboldt County.
This presentation will present published research results about factors that affect herbicide uptake and movement to sites of action in targeted weeds.
• Ventenata Identification and Control– Paul Meiman, UNCE Range Management Specialist.
This presentation will provide information about identifying and controlling Ventenata Grass.
• What is your pesticide label IQ? – Steve Foster, UNCE Extension Educator, Pershing County.
This presentation will instruct applicators on how to understand all the information contained in pesticide labels.
Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) - If you are planning to renew your pesticide applicators certificate by utilizing continuing education credits you need to obtain 12 credit hours (this includes 2 credits of laws and regulations) before your credential expires. If you choose not to obtain continuing education credits prior to your expiration date, you may re-take the certification examinations, at the Nevada Department of Agriculture, beginning no sooner than three months before the expiration of your certification.
This course has been approved for four Nevada continuing education credits (three hours general category and one hour Law category). You must have a current Nevada Pesticide Applicators Certificate or Pest Control License to receive CEU’s. Please bring your certification card or license.
