With the addition of two new schools to the Northern 2A, the schedule is a little busier this season for the Battle Mountain High School boys basketball team.
The Longhorns began league play this past weekend, starting Friday in Fallon against Oasis Academy.
The Bighorns moved up from the 1A to the Northern 2A this season.
Battle Mountain used a 20-11 run in the final eight minutes of play to beat Oasis 62-48.
The Longhorns held a three-point advantage after the first quarter, when the Longhorns stretched out the lead to 29-20 at halftime.
Freshman Geovanni Ruvalcaba led the way with 17 points, six assists, four steals and a rebound. Senior Blake Stuart joined him in double figures with 15 points and seven rebounds and three assists.
Blake Smith contributed six points and two assists and Adan Nevarez and Lewis Strong had five points apiece.
Chase Bam added four points, four rebounds and two assists, Luis Guizar had three points and Chase Lutz, Daniel Andrade and Jake Perrone netted two points apiece.
Battle Mountain finished the road trip on Saturday with a 61-44 loss to Yerington.
The Longhorns are now 1-1 in the Northern 2A and 6-5 overall.
Battle Mountain makes its home debut Thursday against Pershing County at 7:30 p.m. and Friday versus Coral Academy at 7:30 p.m.
